Packaging & Labeling / Order step

Packaging & Labeling

The pack is reviewed like anything else on the order: a reference is approved, material and dimensions are fixed, the retail pack and master carton are specified, labels and carton marks are agreed, quantities are written down, and the packed goods are checked before they leave.

01 / The review sequence

Six steps, from the reference to the pre-shipment check.

Each step names what is confirmed and the record it is held against. Market and retail requirements are confirmed with the client per order, not assumed here. The check on the finished batch is on Pre-Shipment Inspection, and the wider inspection practice on Quality Control.

01

Artwork or reference approval

The pack starts from a reference the client has approved.

Where artwork, a reference pack or a pack already in use is supplied, that reference is what the new pack is held against. Where a customised pack is agreed without one, the packing direction is confirmed with the client before packing starts.

Client approval
What is confirmed
The reference itself — the artwork or pack supplied — together with any change requested against it.
Where it is recorded
The approval given on that reference, and the packing confirmed at sample stage.
02

Material and dimensions

Material, size and colour are fixed against the approved sample.

The material and the dimensions of the product and of the pack it goes into are confirmed at sample stage, so the factory repeats a defined pack rather than interpreting a brief on the line.

Sample approval
What is confirmed
Material, size and colour, and the dimensions of the product and its pack, as agreed.
Where it is recorded
The approved sample and the order specification.
03

Retail pack and master carton

The unit that reaches the shelf and the carton that carries it are specified together.

The retail pack and the master carton are treated as one decision: how the unit is presented in the channel, and the outer pack the goods travel in.

Order specification
What is confirmed
The retail pack and the master carton as agreed for the order.
Where it is recorded
The order specification and the packing confirmed on the sample.
04

Labels and carton marks

What the label says and what the carton shows are agreed before the cartons are closed.

The product label and the marks on the master carton are part of the pack, so they are fixed with the packing rather than settled later at the warehouse.

Order specification
What is confirmed
The product label approved for the order, and the marks to be shown on the master carton.
Where it is recorded
The approved label and the order specification; both are checked again before shipment.
05

Quantities

The count is held against the order, not against memory.

The order quantity, and the way units divide into retail packs and master cartons, are agreed with the packing specification, so the packed quantity can be compared with a written figure.

Order specification
What is confirmed
The order quantity and the pack quantity agreed with the packing specification.
Where it is recorded
The order specification; the pre-shipment check compares the goods presented with it.
06

Pre-shipment check

Product and packaging are checked together before the goods leave.

QC checks the product and its packaging against industry standards together with the specific requirements raised on the order, with photographs, video and a written inspection report. A bulk sample can be sent for confirmation where the order calls for one.

Inspection report
What is confirmed
That what is packed matches the approved sample and the agreed order — product and packaging in the same visit.
Where it is recorded
The inspection report, with photographs and video.

The word beside each dot names the record that holds the item — client approval, the approved sample, the order specification or the inspection report. The colour repeats that word; it never carries the meaning on its own.

02 / The approval record

Written approval is what packing is built from.

Packing is agreed, not guessed. The approval given on artwork, reference or sample is the reference the factory is asked to repeat, and it stays with the order.

Approval on a pack works the same way as approval on a sample: it names what was agreed, on which reference, and it is the thing the run is held against. That is what allows the pack to be checked later without reopening the discussion — and what makes the pack part of the delivery rather than a detail beside it.

What the approval covers
Material, size, colour and packing as confirmed on the sample, together with the artwork or reference pack the approval was given on.
Who gives it
The client. The team prepares and presents the reference; the pack is approved by the party who will sell it.
Why packing is part of it
The pack is part of what you receive. A unit that matches the specification in a pack that does not is still a problem, and approving the pack on paper first is how the order avoids it — a factory can misread a customised requirement that was never written down.
What it is not
It is not a certification and not an approval for any market. It records what was agreed on the order.
Where it is kept
With the order documents, so the same reference can be checked again at the pre-shipment check.

Production follows the confirmed sample. Once the release is agreed and the balance is settled, the documentation team prepares the shipping documents and dispatch is arranged on the agreed trade terms.

03 / Market requirements

Your market’s requirements are confirmed with you, not claimed by us.

Packaging, labelling and product information expectations differ by destination country and by retail channel. They are settled case by case, against what you specify for the order.

Where a requirement comes from your market — a label wording, a packing rule from a retail channel, a marking your buyer asks for — it is treated as an instruction on the order, not as something we approve on your behalf. This page does not list the requirements of any country, and it does not present a market requirement as a certification held by us.

  • Confirmed with the client Where a market or retail requirement exists — wording on a label, a packing rule from a retail channel, a marking your buyer asks for — it is confirmed with the client and carried on the order before the packing is fixed.
  • Not our certification We do not issue, hold or imply regulatory approvals, compliance marks or market authorisations. Nothing on this page is one, and no mark is claimed as ours.
  • Per order Criteria used at inspection follow industry standards together with the specific requirements and concerns raised on the order. Standards, sampling and any re-check are confirmed on the order.
  • Not assumed Which code, symbol or wording your market requires is not assumed here. It is taken from what you specify for the order.

Where a market requirement exists, it is confirmed with the client per order and carried in the order documents. Inspection criteria follow industry standards together with the specific requirements raised on the order.

04 / Field evidence

Close enough to read what was agreed.

Each figure below is a placeholder labelled with the size it should be replaced at, so real packaging photography can drop straight in: the retail pack, the label and carton mark, and the master carton at the check.

Send the pack, the reference and the market it is going to.

Bring the artwork or reference pack you want matched, the channel it sells in, and any labelling your market asks for. What applies to the order is confirmed with you before the packing is fixed.
